This patient sought Dr. U’s help to address the early onset of laugh lines around the sides of the mouth.
Result is seen 2 weeks after the injection of 1cc of the dermal filler hydrelle to the laugh lines also called nasolabial folds. Hydrelle is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler like juvederm, restylane and perlane. It is however, the only hyaluronic acid filler that comes in combination with the numbing agent lidocaine. For this reason the injected area becomes numb quickly and painless. The doctor is able to massage the injected area into shape with no discomfort to the patient .Hydrelle is not approved for use in the lips.
Properties of Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is actually a type of sugar which is found naturally within the bodies of mammals. Scientists have nicknamed it the “goo” compound, due to its consistency. What is unique about HA molecules is their capacity to hold large numbers of water molecules well beyond their own weight.
The actual hyaluronic acid used to make dermal fillers is derived from bacteria, which is not only more sterile, but also lacks animal proteins which can trigger sever allergic reactions. Different filler products will differ from one another depending on how they are cross linked. Therefore, some are more viscous, while others are more fluid.
When injected into a given area, the hyaluronic acid is able to bind in a rather seamless fashion with the surrounding tissue. The water content adds to the volume and hydrates the skin, creating a soft and supple end result.
