If you have always wanted to have naturally long and full eyelashes, a drug called Latisse may help you achieve this.Fine Touch Dermatology offers this product on a prescription basis.
Background on Latisse
Latisse is manufactured by Allergan. It was approved by the FDA in 2008 for use on the upper lashes. It’s active ingredient is a chemical known as Bimatoprost.which was originally present in a drug used for glaucoma, called Lumigan.. Many patients noticed that their lashes grew longer as a result. After further research, Allergan identified Bimatoprost as the compound responsible for this effect. The company decided to develop it as a separate product specifically for growing lashes and treating hyptrichosis (the medical term for having short and insufficient eye lashes)
How Does Latisse Work?
Latisse works by prolonging the hair growth phases of the eyelashes. With this longer window of time, these hairs are able to grow and extend to greater lengths.
How To Use Latisse
Latisse needs to be applied with a special brush on the upper lash line once a day. The lashes will grow over the next several weeks. During this time the recommended dosage may be reduced.
